Data Preparation > Database > ISI > Create Document Source Merging Table
Essentially the same as Create Merging Table, but including two analyses of your dataset that may help in determining good candidates for merging.
The output merging table will include the following summaries of your dataset for each journal:
- Number of papers from - The number of documents in your dataset which were published in this journal.
- Number of references to - The number of references (among all documents in your dataset) to documents in this journal.
On a very large dataset it may not be practical to hand-tailor an entire journal merging table. The purpose of these analyses is to maximize the effect of your work by helping to target for merging those journals that are published in or cited especially often
Load an ISI file into the tool, then create a database from it using the ISI database loader.
Use this algorithm on the database to create a merging table. For more details on general merging tables, see Create Merging Table.
Load your edited merging table back into the tool, select your database and your merging table together, then run Merge Entities. The result will be the input database with journals merged as directed.
- The database query used to create the table.
